Esch Capitale Culturelle

Esch Capitale Culturelle is an initiative that brings together all the creative energies of the city of Esch-sur-Alzette around large-scale cultural projects. Awarded the title in 2022, Esch Capitale Culturelle organizes its Art and Culture Biennale every two years, an internationally renowned cultural event that brings the city to life. The initiative needed a visual identity that matched its creative ambitions.

A Modular Branding Approach

The Explose agency has designed a visual identity for the initiative, built around a modular concept. At its core, the design embraces the pure contrast of black and white—symbolizing both timeless elegance and a modern institution. This refined foundation is enriched by a dynamic palette of playful shapes, reflecting the vibrancy and diversity of the cultural program. The two logos—Esch Capitale Culturelle and the Biennale—were conceived within a unified brand universe. A bold typographic symbol is encapsulated within a strong visual frame—a structured box system—allowing the identity to seamlessly adapt across various formats. This approach ensures a strong visual consistency while maintaining exceptional flexibility in its applications. The visual identity extends into the digital realm through motion and sound design. Custom animations and a bespoke sonic identity amplify the brand’s emotional resonance, creating a deeper connection with its audiences.

A Seamless and Functional Digital Ecosystem

To enhance digital communication, a series of social media templates were designed, offering both animated and static formats. These templates empower the client with complete autonomy in adapting and publishing content while ensuring visual consistency across all platforms. Additionally, Explose created bespoke animations and video assets, combining motion and sound design to provide Esch Capitale Culturelle’s team with a fully integrated suite of dynamic branding tools. This cohesive ecosystem guarantees a smooth, engaging, and visually unified communication strategy.

 

Physical design

To enhance the visibility of the initiative and its related events, Explose designed easily adaptable and reusable print templates for various stakeholders. These materials enable effective communication around the different projects and events, while staying true to the visual identity of the Esch Capitale Culturelle label. These print assets radiate throughout the urban landscape, ensuring graphic coherence between digital and physical channels. This consistency amplifies the brand’s impact and strengthens audience engagement.
